Tern Foundation is a small private foundation launched in 2010.

Our mission is to support programs and organizations that embrace creativity and collaboration as a means to positively impact local communities, primarily in the Boston area and on Cape Cod, MA. We provide funding—and nurture innovative opportunities—in the areas of arts and culture, peace education initiatives, and environmental sustainability and conservation.

Announcing New Initiative: TernSOLAR Challenge Grant Program

In September 2010, Tern launched its first environmental initiative, TernSOLAR. This new grant program provides funding assistance for solar panel system installations on Cape Cod, offered to nonprofit organizations that engage creatively and strengthen the communities they serve. Through TernSOLAR, we work in a partnership-oriented capacity to help advance energy efficient design/building in conjunction with solar panel installations across the Cape. Structured as a challenge grant, the funding offers an opportunity to engage and educate communities on the many benefits of efficiency and solar power as a renewable energy option.
